Sudak was founded as a Greek colony in 212 BC. Feodosiya is just a few miles down the road from Sudak. It was also a Greek colony, dating back to the 6th century BC. It was a center for the grain trade, and across the centuries it was conquered many times, by invaders from the 4th century Huns to the armies of Nazi Germany.
